Known for its quaint accommodation and colorful hillsides, St Lucia is essentially two islands in one. The north side, Rodney Bay offers modern comforts while the south, Soufrière is at the heart of hidden beaches and the picturesque Pitons. Here is a snapshot of what we did in a day on the island.
DIAMOND FALLS BOTANICAL GARDENS & MINERAL BATHS
Amidst the hundreds of tropical flowers and trees, you will find the therapeutic mineral baths dated from 1784. While we did not take a dip, we did wander to the beautiful Diamond Falls, breathtaking to say the least.
We were lucky enough to catch this gorgeous beach from our catamaran cruise. If you are walking, Anse Chastanet is has a resort with the same name and island it’s an easy 1-mile walk from Soufrière. Consisting of towering palm trees and protected by the cliffs, here is a perfect spot to go snorkeling or a dip in the sea.
ANSE LA RAYE – FISHING VILLAGE
Anse La Raye is a quaint fishing village located on the island’s western side, near Marigot Bay. Every Friday night local fishermen showcase their skills hold a fish fry, where lobsters and fish by the hundred and cooked and eaten.
The twin cones of St Lucia’s Pitons are an iconic symbol of St Lucia to say the least. As soon as you spot them you are in awe of their beauty!
